Safety Guidelines
1. Safety Framework
Safety on the Quikk platform requires mutual accountability between riders, passengers, independent drivers, delivery couriers, and merchant partners. These Safety Guidelines define mandatory standards and practical precautions that apply to every ride dispatch, cash transaction, and food delivery coordinated through the platform in Juba, South Sudan.
Failure to observe these guidelines can result in immediate loss of access to Quikk services, suspension or deactivation of account privileges, and, where applicable, referral to law enforcement authorities.
2. Boda-Boda (Motorcycle) Safety Rules
Motorcycle rides ("Boda-Boda") require heightened caution due to local traffic dynamics and road conditions in Juba. The following rules are strictly enforced:
- Mandatory Helmet Requirement: Both the rider and passenger must wear a securely fastened motorcycle helmet throughout the entire duration of the trip. Couriers and riders who refuse or fail to provide or wear a safety helmet will face platform suspension.
- Strict One-Passenger Limit: Under no circumstances may a Boda-Boda driver carry more than one (1) passenger simultaneously on any Quikk trip. Overloading motorcycles severely impairs steering and braking and is strictly prohibited.
- No Distracted Riding: Drivers must not handle mobile phones, operate chat applications, or wear dual audio earbuds while navigating moving traffic.
- Prohibited Adverse Weather Operations: In cases of extreme localized flash flooding, torrential downpours, or zero-visibility storms in Juba, drivers are encouraged to seek shelter and pause dispatches until road conditions are safe.
- Sobriety & Impairment: Zero tolerance is maintained for operating or boarding a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, intoxicating drugs, or impairing medications.
3. Tuk-Tuk & Four-Wheel Vehicle Safety
For Tuk-Tuk (three-wheeler) and automobile passenger journeys:
- Passenger Capacity Compliance: Drivers must strictly adhere to the manufacturer vehicle capacity limit. Overloading seats beyond authorized capacity is a violation of platform rules and local road regulations.
- Seatbelts: When traveling in four-wheel passenger vehicles, all occupants must utilize seatbelts where fitted by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Independent drivers are solely responsible for ensuring vehicles are roadworthy, including functioning headlights, tail lights, working brakes, clean mirrors, and properly inflated tires.
- Luggage & Cargo: Personal items must be safely stowed so as not to obstruct mirrors, gear controls, or passenger movement. Hazardous, flammable, or explosive materials are strictly barred from vehicles.
4. Cash Handling & Transaction Safety
Because Quikk operates on an in-person, cash-first settlement model in Juba, users and drivers must take sensible cash-safety precautions:
- Exact or Near-Exact Change: Riders and customers are strongly encouraged to prepare near-exact cash amounts in South Sudanese Pounds (SSP) as estimated in the app prior to arrival, avoiding large currency notes where possible.
- Safe Change Exchange: Cash exchanges must be performed in well-lit, visible surroundings before departing the vehicle or delivery handoff point.
- Secure Storage: Independent drivers and couriers should keep collected cash discreetly stored and not openly displayed inside vehicle compartments.
- Fare Transparency: Drivers and riders must adhere to the fare parameters displayed on the mobile interface. Drivers may not arbitrarily inflate fares, demand tips, or extort off-app cash surcharges.
5. Food Delivery & Package Hygiene
For orders placed via QuikkEats, maintaining hygiene from merchant kitchen to customer doorstep is essential:
- Tamper-Evident Packaging: Merchant partners are required to package all food in clean, securely sealed bags, containers, or tamper-evident wrapping before handoff to the courier.
- No Packaging Tampering: Independent delivery couriers must never open, inspect, taste, or alter packaged food containers or beverages. Tampering with customer meals results in immediate and permanent account deactivation.
- Thermal and Weather Protection: Couriers must utilize enclosed, weather-resistant delivery bags or insulated boxes to protect meals from road dust, rain, and heat during transit.
- Handoff Hygiene: Couriers and customers should avoid direct contact with unwrapped foodstuffs during the delivery handover.
5A. Regulated & 18+ Goods Delivery Safety
Special safety protocols apply when couriers transport and deliver age-restricted items such as alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, and pharmaceuticals:
- Mandatory In-Person Age Verification: Couriers must inspect valid physical photo ID (Passport or National ID) verifying the recipient is at least eighteen (18) years of age before handing over restricted products.
- Zero Delivery to Minors: Deliveries of restricted goods must NEVER be made to children or unaccompanied minors under any circumstances.
- Safe Transport Packaging: Glass bottles, alcoholic beverages, and medical items must be securely packed in upright, cushioned, leak-proof containers to avoid breakage and road accidents.
- Mandatory Refusal & Non-Confrontation: If a customer becomes aggressive when asked for ID, or if an underage recipient attempts to take delivery, the courier must remain calm, refuse the handover, return to their vehicle, and report the incident immediately to Quikk Dispatch.
6. Emergency Incidents & Road Accidents
In the event of a traffic collision, medical emergency, physical assault, or imminent personal threat:
- Immediately move to a place of physical safety if possible.
- Call local emergency services or the South Sudan National Police Service.
- Seek prompt medical assistance for any injured persons.
- Once the immediate emergency has stabilized, report the incident through the Quikk application or email Support@rareincorporated.com with trip details.
Note on Dispatches: Quikk does not operate a dedicated armed response or private security patrol service. Platform emergency tools facilitate reporting and trip identification for formal investigation.
7. Reporting Unsafe Conduct & Platform Inquiries
Users who experience reckless driving, aggressive behavior, sexual harassment, vehicle defects, or health violations are urged to report the incident immediately. Quikk reviews safety reports during business operational hours and enforces necessary safeguards, including account suspension.
Safety inquiries and incident escalations should be directed to:
